Is there some way to get some radio shows on satellite without owning a
radio station? I want to get various shows I like that I can't get too
well, and my internet connection is too slow. I have a c-band satellite
system, and was thinking of getting a receiver that supports this. One I
heard of can deal with digital signals, but not sure if it's TV only. It's
the major reason I'm thinking of the digital receiver, as hdtv isn't
important too much. Is there ways to use linux to switch channels, adjust
frequencies and the like? I was thinking of using cron to schedule channel
changes for recording and the like. Getting the order of satellites is
often difficult as it changes occationally, and the frequency thing is near
impossible as counting button presses for a huge frequency increase is
impractical.
What is it that I need a special IO card or game port connection for? I
heard that from some windblows software help file to stop recording at the
point where local commercials would normally take over, as I don't need the
mystery stuff that is aired after this, probably just production
countdowns, or silence, that wastes space.
