Hi,
Has anybody out there tried the Transport driver? I've tried it with a
350 MHZ Pentium II machine and it seems to work fine. However, I've tried
it with a 200 MHZ Pentium Pro and it usually doesn't recognize the device
and when it does, it just speaks a few words and quits. I've used both a
mini Transport and a Transport Classic with the same results. Both
machines use a 16550a UART. Luckily I've gotten good results on the
Pentium Pro using good old reliable acntsa. Since the Accent driver works
I'm not really that concerned about the Transport driver, but Kirk, I
thought you should know.

Thanx Jim: What version of transport driver and speakup is this?
I'll look into it.

  Kirk

Hi Jim:

Well, I'm running on a Pentium 120 with a transport emulator running on a
Eureka A4 computer. I was the one who hassled Kirk into writing it in the
first place. Admittedly I am still running the very very first version
(the December 19, 1999 one), but it seems to work fine for me although I
have to boot linux twice for it to work (but I think that might be a
hardware issue). Haven't tried any of the speakup v0.09 patches yet.

Geoff.

Hi Kirk,
Its speakup-0.09. If I recall it has a March 25 date.
I'd give you a more definitive answer, but I'm not on a Linux system at
the moment.

Hi Jeff,
I hesitated to mention the problem at all, since the Accent external works
fine. But since we all want Speakup to be the best screen reader in the
world, I thought I should.
