Hi Folks: I have placed a copy of yesterdays interview on the speakup
audio page. It is in real audio format and is the first link on the
page. It would be interesting to hear folks comments on it at some
point.

Kirk -
I sure would like to know how I can listen to a real audio posting with my
configuration. My sound card handles mp3 files just fine once they are
local, but I have not had a chance to play with realaudio yet. My
bottleneck may be my 33.6kb modem. Should I forget it for now? or is there
a howto or other docs to get me started?
Thanks - Chuck.

Hi Chuck: The modem speed won't be a problem I don't think. The
problem may be you processor. I tried like hell to get real audio to
work with my 486 and couldn't get it to work. You maybe in better
shape than I was though, because I only a a 66/2. You need the xvfb
package. I am not sure where to find that but there are other
slackware users here that have installed it they can tell where to
find it. You can get the real player and the various scripts you need
from the goodies directory on bumpy. The real play is an rpm package
so you'll need alien to convert it.

Kirk:
Would it be possible to post a mp3 version of the interview? I confess I
don't know about .ra to .mp3 conversion, but it certainly can be done from
.wav.

Hi:
If I remember correctly, the recommended spec for realplay 5 is a pentium
75 and for realplayer G2 alpha is a pentium 166.
Geoff.

Thanks. I am going to be "off the air" after tomorrow for a week or so,
and when I get back I will be using an AMD 5x86 processor, 64MB ram, and
an 8GB drive, so I will tackle the realaudio problem then.
Chuck.
