Ok well I amn looking at getting an external synth.
I was considering the Dectalk Express or the Tripple talk.
I had heard that the Dectalk has had some problems and bugs, so I thought
that the Triple talk would do better. Have you heard of bugs with the
Dectalk Express?
For Linux, which do you think will work best.
Mat.

Hey, you ot to get a regular double talk or lite talk, which ever the
external one is. The people who make the trippletalk apparently refuse to
make the specs available so Kirk and the boys can't write a device driver
for linux to use the trippletalk. - real shame, if you ask me. If that
practice continues, I personally will never buy a trippletalk!

Hi
I wondered where you got this purl of wisdom? It was my understanding
that the Dectalk Express is the synth that has been used the longest on
the GNU/Linux platform. The Trippletalk producers won't allow anyone to
write the drivers for it.
So our perceptions are vastly different.

Hi Mat. I use a dectalk express with Speakup, and have had no major
problems. I just find that sometimes when I am typing particularly fast,
the pitch of the speech will be modified. However, I just have to press
numpad enter and the pitch is reset. Other than that, I haven't noticed
anything.
Gates go to hell, your OS is waiting for you there!

They aught to have a driver, that instead of handeling any particular synth,
j8ust echos the text. You can't control Things like rate, pitch, tone
etc, but at least it's something. I could actually hook up a braille
printer like a blazer that supports serial. I'd wonder what that'd be
like...

All.
Does anyone know if the triple talk synthesiser works with SpeakUp and
emacspeak? I am lead to believe that there are double talk drivers that do,
and the Double Talk drivers can be used with the Triple Talk hardware. Is
this correct?
Thanks in advance.

Not yet. I can tell you for a fact that the Doubletalk/Litetalk
drivers for Speakup do not work with the TripleTalk, at least not
yet.
