Anyone have ideas on using Vi with Speakup? What I mean is while I am typing
text in "insert mode", Speakup reads back the remaining part of the line
after every keystroke.  I'm sure it's because of how Vi puts stuff back to
the screen.  I just wonder how others out there deal with.  Do you turn off
speech while typing this way or do you just type real fast and try to ignore
the chatter? (I do the latter. <smile>)

in V0.10. Bear in mind though that you should turn it off again when you
don't need it, as it makes backspace not behave quite right (at least in
what is spoken when you backspace) and stuff like that.

Anyway, you can turn the cursor tracking on with the numberic pad asterisk
(I think it's an asterisk, anyway, third key, top row).

Hi
	Well, if you're using 0.10, turning cursor tracking on sort of
helps. Otherwise, just try to ignore it till you upgrade your speakup.

tips on editing files

I've installed speakup-0.10 and am pleased with the improvements.  I think
folks will like the /proc filesystem entries.  
My question is how to you keep track of your place when editing
files?  Does the speakup cursor follow the PC cursor?

Hi,

	The cursor tracking is on the to do list that Kirk and the crew are working on, For the moment, you just use the numeric keypad keys to have Speakup "say line", 'say word', etc to keep track of where the video cursor is.

Can't quite remember all the ground that was covered on the thread of
editing files.  One thing I will add because I didn't know it for ages, is
that not only does keypad enter usefully serve as a
shut-up-until-next-keypress command, but it also routes your reading cursor
to the actual system cursor, regardless of whether or not the reading
cursor is parked.  I find this an invaluable command and use it a great
deal.
