In my /etc/modules on debian 7 I have
speakup
speakup_soft start=1
And in my /etc/rc.local I have speakupconf load
The rc.local script didn't execute however when I rebooted and I had to go speakupconf load by myself. The +x bit is set on the script. Thoughts? Oh and /etc/speakup does exist.

Where in rc.local are you running speakupconf? Is it above the

exit 0

line? Also, are you running speakupconf with the full path as in

/usr/bin/speakupconf load

?

To: Speakup is a screen review system for Linux.

I solved it by moving speakupconf into /usr/bin. That hit me a few minutes
after sending the message. I want to get it running earlier though, when
speakup first comes up. Might see if I can add it to my speakup connector
init script somehow.
