Hello,
i use speakup and brltty with a optelec voyager 44 on grml linux.
If i plug in the voyager brailledisplay directly in into my netbook, all
works well.
If i plug in the brailledisplay into a usb-hub with a extra
poweradapter, the brailledisplay works, but the keys of the voyager wil
not work.
What can i do, so that the brailledisplay works correctly.

Hello. Have you tried a different port on the hub? Have you tried a different hub altogether? It's obviously a problem with the port on the hub, or the hub itself, since the voyager works fine when connected by itself. You might check the documentation for the Voyager. Some usb devices specificly require that you not plug them in to a hub. Hello Dietmar. It looks like you'll need to talk to the brltty folks. If they can't help, they may refere you to the kernel usb people. As I told someone else earlier, it looks like your temporary work around is just to plug the Voyager into a separate port on the laptop, and use the hub for other things, if you really need it. I was hoping you were using the hub with a different machine because there might have been a difference in kernel configuration. But, you've apparently stumpped the consultant. Sorry, but sometimes these things come up, and the only thing to do is work around them until an expert in the particular area of difficulty has the time and or inclination to diagnose the problem. Sometimes devices don't work well when connected through a USB hub. Often it is an error in the usb driver or some badly handled nuonce of USB funniness, it used to be the case that USB Audio devices wouldn't work well through a hub. I'd report a bug to the brltty mob but these problems are difficult to track down and harder to fix. If there is a Linux-USB mailing list that might be another avenue to check out. Regards, Kerry. Yep, and some devices just plain say in the docs that they won't work with a hub. I don't know if the Voyager is one of those or not. I guess a temporary work around would be to plug the voyager in to a separate usb port on the laptop from the hub, provided the laptop has more than one port. If not, I'm afraid he's had, until Dave or one of the usb kernel guys can diagnose the problem.
