Hello list,
I'm trying to build a more customized cut-down kernel that I can use for
both my linux systems.
I can arrow through the tree view thingy that the make menuconfig uses, but
have a quick question.
When I am done turning off and on modules in the list, how do I go back?
Speakup seems to have an issue where it reads the exit and help buttons at
the same time when I press tab.
Also, how would I save the config?
Last, I thought about getting speakup and patching it in. I was also told
there is a way to compile it under modules, and was told to use git... Could
anyone elaborate?
Tia,
Thanks,

Re the make menuconfig: escape will take you back. It will not work
immediately--there is about a 1 second delay, in case you want to press
some other escape sequence.
Doing it twice will get it done instantly, but the problem there is that
if you are at the main menu, it may not save if you double escape from
there.
The way to save, is to hit escape from the main menu, which will bring up
a yes/no control.

The only thing I'll add to Luke's answer here is that I never had a
problem with saving the config, if I pressed esc twice quickly from
within the main menu. When I did that, it has always asked me if I
want to save or not.

This has been covered often enough recently on this list, that you
should be able to find the answer in the archives. In fact, I recall
it being covered in detail as recently as this month.

I've got everything set, I believe.
My goal was to just cut things down... I want the basic support, keyboard
and soundcard and networking, but I don't want all the digital camera
drivers, etc etc etc.
Would someone mind checking out my .config and letting me know if I can cut
any more off?
Thanks,
