It's broken with 8.10, go google up the solution; there is one;
or load on 8.04.1 and update the distribution.
You'll either need the kernel from 8.10 or be running 8.10 to get speakup 
running.
You might want to get a copy of viubuntu which says it comes up talking with 
orca etc.
Standard ubuntu 8.10 does not come up talking when you choose accessible 
install a bug in the installer.

You should be abel to do this
insert the cd and press enter for english
press f5 and choose screen reader, thats number3 I believe and press e
nter
press enter again for the live cd or down arrow and enter for the
installation.
this is from memory so it may be a little off. Hopefully it works. I've
not used ubuntu in a while.

Hi, If I use the harty version from the daily builds does that have orca in 
it and can I hit f5 after the installation boots then three to start orca?
