Hi all,
I thought I'd update everyone on the status of the bug with espeak and
alsa-lib. As far as I can tell, it is actually a bug in Portaudio. I
tracked it down. You can read my description in the Portaudio list
archives at the following link.
https://lists.columbia.edu/pipermail/portaudio/2016-August/000599.html
Alan from the Portaudio list has been working with me to get it fixed in
Portaudio. I'll do my best to keep everyone informed as things
progress.

Hi Chris,
Having read the archives, this is excellent news indeed. Thank you for your work on tracking this all down.
All the best,
Zack.
