Trying to seed the torrent on my server, I'm getting a 403 error. I'm
using wget on the server to download the torrent file, but I don't have
permission to download it.

It's a problem on your end. I downloaded it fine.

Tyler,
By the time you downloaded it, the problem was fixed.
Now I'm getting the following message from rtorrent:
(18:12:36) Could not create download: Could not find any trackers
This does appear to be a problem on my end, especially since I thought
rtorrent supported torrents without trackers. Maybe the Debian Wheezy
version doesn't support this. I would run Deluge, but it seems to put a
lot more load on my server's CPU, and rtorrent puts almost no load on
the server at all. I'm currently seeding all the Sonar torrents in
rtorrent, and the server load is almost 0. Maybe I should try using
Transmission. I'll get this thing working eventually.

Oops! This is fixed.
I guess transmission-create creates the file with permissions of 0600?

I'm still having problems with the torrent file on my server. I was able
to download it, but every client I've tried is having trouble getting
the iso. I tried rtorrent, transmission and even the "official"
bittorrent client, all with no luck. Deluge is working on the PC though,
so I am seeding it here for now. I'll get a permenant seed up on the
server as soon as I can make it work.

I'm seeding with transmission too.

Using Deluge on the server, I am now seeding the torrent. My load seems
normal as well. I'll keep it going. Thanks Chris for the new image.

Hi, Chris.
I wonder if I'm missing something, but I got no message to that effect.
I started a bittorrent download at around 8:30 this morning. When I
checked over five hours later, the .bittorrent file in Downloads
appeared to have 22,464 (or 22,646) bytes, and didn't grow a single byte
as I checked several times. I got rid of that file and downloaded the
usual way, and I doubt that took much more than 30 minutes.
I seemed to have a similar problem yesterday when using bittorrent to
bring down a couple of Debian live CD images. I used bittorrent a few
years ago, and it worked fine, though I don't remember how long it took.
Can you tell me what I may have done wrong? Thanks!

You will need to open the .torrent file in your favorite bittorrent
client, either using the browser to open the file using the correct
application, or by opening the file with the client you want after it
has been downloaded from your browser. The size of the .torrent file
will never grow, and it is up to you and your client where the .iso file
should be downloaded. What bittorrent client were you using? perhaps
there is a setting that isn't right, or maybe it's just a bug in the
client. I found that some clients, mostly text-based stuff running on my
server, were not able to handle the file for some reason. Deluge seems
to work the best, both on my server in text mode and on my local machine
in graphical mode.

Thanks! I guess my mistake was to think that somehow the use of bittorrent
had advanced such that hitting ENTER to download the file there would kick
in whatever client came with Fedora. I also guess that means I need to
retrieve old, temporary knowledge or get new knowledge on bittorrent. Who
wants to buy this pre-owned brain for scrap? :-)

Hello Chris,
Great work on the soundcard selector script.
Now, I can't select a kernel by hitting escape and typing in arch64 or
arch32. Maybe something has changed in the /boot directory structure.
I'll take a look at the iso.
Also I can't boot from USB media. I get the 30 second waiting for
device error. It's trying to mount a loopback device very early in the
boot process. I've seen this before but can't remember how to fix it.
I created the stick by copying the arch directory and installing
syslinux on it and adding the syslinux mbr.

The correct way to create a bootable USB stick for BIOS-based systems is
with dd. Just use dd to write the ISO image to the stick:
dd if=my-image.iso of=/dev/path-to-my-stick.
Don't write to a partition, write to the raw stick. For example, use
/dev/sdb, not /dev/sdb1.
The instructions are a bit different for UEFI based systems.
If you have UEFI, I'd advise looking at the UEFI-related articles in the
Arch Wiki.
