Hi all,
Does anyone have any good tips on how to create real accessible console-based applications? ones that work really well with speakup and/or brltty?
I have several projects in mind, but from what I have seen of the ncurses libraries, they tend to generate somewhat inaccessible applications especially when using hte menus and listboxes.
Any suggestions appreciated.

To: Speakup is a screen review system for Linux.
Many ncursis apps are accessible, so that is possible. You can also get a
long way with scripting languages using things like read and echo.

Best console program I've used has been mutt for mail, except for the menu/keystroke/options line being at the top, rather than at the bottom of the screen where it will be read first. Nano doesn't seem to have too many problems, either. I'd look at their sourcecode for hints.

You can switch the top and bottom line in Mutt by editing your .muttrc.
Enter:
set status_on_top
And you will see what you want.
