When using ftp explorer, going to linux.speakup.org, logging on as
anonymous, I can get to /pub.
Yet I can go nowhere beyond that directory. Why is this? Other sites seem
to work alright with this program. Should I log in using a different method?

Hi. Have you specified in options to have ftp-explorer send your e-mail address as the password? Sometimes it takes a while for the folders you are accessing to be transfered. This is due to high traffic at time of login. Did the program actually time out?
