I have the ePC 701 running XP.
4GB internal, & 1 GB RAM.
I upped the RAM myself.
I want to put in a larger internal SD card, but it may take some careful
surgery.

Just curious what people are running on their netbooks etc with low storage?
I have an eeepc701 with 4gb storage, 8gb sd-card and 2gb of ram was
considering grml, anyone running something different on similar config?
I have netbooks with hard disks that can probably run vinux or full ubuntu;
but thought I could do better than Debian 4.0 on the 701.
Regards, Kerry.

I don't know if this helps, but I did a debootstrap on my laptop for debian
from the grml cd.
It was great because I don't have a hardware synth, but the install came out
to like 200 mb or so.

Thanks,

My programs don't have bugs, they're called randomly added features.

Depending on processor you could probably get away with installing Gentoo on
it. If you can wrap your head around the manual instalation via ssh you'd
have to do.

Sure, I built my speakup from Git, and got it working nicely.
considering possibly putting orca and gnome on the box though for GUI work.
Vinux might be what I want and with 12gb storage I might get away with it.
Regards, Kerry.

I don't have one myself (I opted for a laptop upgrade instead), but there is
a
Debian installer specifically for the Asus EEEPC.

Once the basic operating system is installed, SpeakUp modules are waiting in
the repository.
