I downloaded GRML 2008.11 I386 RC1 and got it to boot from a USB stick
without much trouble with SSH access. However, the speakup modules weren't
there. They are using kernel 2.6.26.7. I will try making the speakup modules
for this kernel but I don't want to install gRML. Anyone else interested in
this?

Well Kitty, I was going to download this new release--and for weeks I have been
trying to find out if the spelling issue was fixed? You see it was spelling
rather than pronouncing words. In corresponding with another lister here, I
looked in the speakup archive--and-found mention of pre-empting a colonel.
Thanks in advance
Hart

Hello,
The 2008.11 RC1 CD I have includes speakup and espeakup. I am not
getting the spelling issues with it. I do notice that sometimes when
typing speakup lags on GRML and then suddenly catches up. I think this
may be partly down to zsh responding.

Hello,
I thought this was the version I had downloaded and speakup is there.
The only differences I am noticing are:
* You have the USB version whereas I have the CD image.
* You are talking about it having kernel 2.6.26, my version says it has
kernel 2.6.26.
The software speech with speakup is using espeakup on my CD.
Are you using the actual RC1 release or a development build? Have you
notified GRML about this?
I wouldn't like to see GRML loose speakup, its a good live CD for the
command line.

You could remaster the disk, if you put the modules in the right
place. You might want to write to the author -- I forget his name
right now -- and see if he can include them -- this is rc1 after all.
