Hello,
I've installed fedora 18 on one of my computers.
PUlse audio seems to be attached to gnome. I read in one of my mail messages to perhaps
touch /use/bin/pulseaudio
However, that breaks the system. I have to reinstall pulse audio to get sound. Is there a file i need to put in !/ or perhaps edit something in /etc/ to disable pulse audio allowing me to use espeakup in the console? right now as it stands if i start espeakup audio doesn't work. I built espeakup from the git repo since rpm fusion did not have a tmp package to install.
What do I need to do to make this work?

Hi Alonzo,
I'm not yet running a modern version of Fedora, so I don't know how
the interaction with Pulseaudio might have changed. Janina runs f18 with
no problems. I believe that Al does also. What do you mean when you say
that Rpmfusion didn't have a tmp package? If I can help further, call or
write. Calling is faster.

Hello,
I found the packages... It was the staging models in fussin as you said
accordingly in the last message. However, the pulse audio issue seems to
be affecting things. I do not know enough about pulse to disable it. I i
touch /usr/bin/pulseaudio the who system breaks in terms of audio. I
tried removing the alsa plugins for pulseaudio and tht didn't do the trick.
There was another way I recall, but it was placing some file in your
home directory, but I don't have any recollection of what file it was.
It was a file that faked pulse audio running.

I've noticed irregular but frequent delays in speech output after pressing
keys using Speakup. It can be a reading key or an arrow key. I've seen the
delay to be a second, maybe longer. I don't recall whether this happened
with Fedora 17, but I've seen it during most if not all of my time using
Fedora 18. I've figured it probably pertains to some interaction between
Speakup and Pulseaudio, but really don't know. I haven't seen a similar
thing with Orca.

There's no separate rpm. Speakup is part of the kernel staging modules.
When you get those, you get Speakup as well.
