Hello there,
My name is Scott and I need some help please with the debian-
2.2r2-speak disk which I made. I do not know how to proceed to
boot this thing. How do I tell the debian installation where my
synth is which is a Doubletalk synth and also how do I begin the
process of actually installing the debian Linux system?

hey there Scott. Try this when the disk stops spinning:
linux speakup_synth=dtlk
This is for the doubletalk internal. Also during the installation before
you write the lilo configuration to disk your going to have to go down to
the section that says add kernel boot ooptions or something and type in
the same scring you used to boot the system with out the linux at the
beginning. Don't type append or the quotes around it. Just type:
speakup_synth=dtlk
If you forget this step the system won't come up talking again when you
reboot it so try not to forget it.
Tommy.

This seems not to have worked. I am new at this but I went in to
Dos with a Windows Me disk and loaded the cd drivers since I am
using a cd and typed what you told me and also replaced dtlk with
ltlk. Are the actual speech drivers built in or do I need to get
something for the speech drivers? On 30 May 2001, at 12:10,

I'm not sure with debian but with slackware, I never had to worry about
the synth not talking.
