Hi,

I'm ancient enough to love the "ed" editor. I have a Dell Latitude
D820 laptop with one of the intel 915 series video chips. When I loaded
Fedora 11, by having someone actually do the graphical installation for me,
<grrrrr>, I noticed that I had a 75 by 160 screen instead of the usual 24
by 80 one. Now, whenever I paste anything into ed from Speakup, I lock
up. This always happens. I haven't tried this on any other machines.

      Has anyone seen anything similar?

Bill,

My system uses the Intel 945 motherboard, and I paste without problems
into ed on it. My screen is 48 by 128, which I achieve by appending
vga=773 to the boot parameters list. You might try adding that value
to yours if a better solution doesn't appear.

Chuck

I have the same machine using gentoo, but I only have 48 lines by 140
characters, I think and I don't have any problems pasting in any app I
have used -- I wonder if you have something which is actually a higher
resolution than the board will actually take or something. Also, I am
not using the normal framebuffer driver but one which comes with gentoo
and is supposed to be better called udesafb.

Hope this helps.

Did you specifically try ed?

No, but I can check that -- not sure I even have ed. Also, I gave the
wrong name for my framebuffer driver, uvesafb is the correct name.
