Hello everyone,
On my desktop I'm able to use numpad star (the key above number 9) to
adjust for highlight tracking etc... Is there a way to do this on laptops?

You're right, there doesn't seem to be a way to do that. However, you
can use your laptop's FN key. I think that FN+0 on the number row
should do what you want, but definitely don't quote me on that. If
FN+0 doesn't work, hold down your FN key, and keep trying other keys,
and one of them should be it. I know that's not the best advice, but
that's all I can tell you, maybe someone else will have a more
definite answer for you.

Actually, is there a list of speakup key bindings anywhere for laptops?

Hi. It is possible, but how you do it varies from laptop to laptop, but
if all else fails, you should be able to hold the capslock key like a
shift key, which makes the j k l area of the keyboard a speakup key pad.
Whern you release the capslock key, the keys resum their normal
function. You can hit shift capslock to actually activate the capslock
function for upper case typing. Hope this helps.

Hmm, interesting, I just tried winkey+p on my desktop, which should
work the same way, and that just reads the current line, as does
winkey+i. Maybe you've got a newer version of speakup than I do. I
built my last kernel with speakup in December, so that might well be
the case.
Regarding Gene's comment, Alonzo already knew about using capslock as
the speakup modifier. What he was getting at, is that there seems to
be no capslock+key equivalent to numpad-*, though it seems like there
might be after all, in newer versions of speakup anyway I guess.
