Turn off cursoring with numpad-*, and set it to either
highlight-tracking, or to off.

I second what Greg said. You want highlight tracking. It'll read most
of those menus perfectly, with an exception or two. Be careful with the
"choose your filesystem type" menu.
I should probably add this to the wiki page.

hi there, i too installed arch, there's two ways you can get round this.
1. Use the review cursor and just count the menu options, then just use home
to get to the top, and count how many arrows down you need.
2. Use the numpad star key to switch to highlight tracking mode, but noe
that in a lot of screen this doesn't work quite like it should
HTH,
Arthur.

You can also use insert+period on the numeric keypad to check out the
color of the text under the cursor. By going from line to line, and
checking the color, it should become apparent which item is selected. For
example, in Slackware, the highlighted option is bright red on blue, and
the others are red on scion. In this example, highlight tracking gives
improper feedback, listing the option above the one that is selected.

it some more today.
