I'm 99% sure the last kernel supported by the cvs version was
2.6.21.6. I don't recall the earliest kernel the cvs version
supported, but I think it was 2.6.20, maybe even earlier, like 2.6.19,
or 2.6.18.

As far as I know, the 3.0.2 version of speakup supports 2.6.24-2.6.25,
and higher as of now at least. If someone has more accurate info,
please chime in.

And as of today the git version should support 2.6.18 - ad aeternam.

I indeed forgot to announce that the last missing exports have been
commited upstream: starting from the future 2.6.26, _no_ kernel patching
will be needed, just make -C src/ modules modules_install will do the
trick!

Hi,
I'm not sure I understand this...Are you saying that Speakup has been
committed into the mainline kernel? Or has Speakup been written to conform
to module guidelines, or...
Thanks for any clarification,
Zack.

Does this mean then that speakup is a part of the official kernel.org
sources as of 2.6.26?

None of these. I'm saying what I've said: there is no need to patch your
kernel in order to be able to use Speakup: just compile speakup and you
can use it. In other words, speakup can be compiled as modules without
any modification to the 2.6.26 kernel.

So, without change, speakup will now work with 2.6.24, 2.6.25 and
2.6.26? What if I want a module built in -- do I then use the install
script in the speakup git tree?

Thanks.
