All,
Is there a way to use the dectalk usb synth with speakup if it is
connected to a serial port instead of usb? Does it work like a Dectalk
Express?

Make sure that the switch on the right side is in the position closest to
the headphone jack. Also, if not using the USB port as a power source,
make sure the supplied wall wart is plugged in. Whether you use the wall
wart, or USB cable for power, the device will emulate a Dectalk Express as
long as the switch is in the right position.
