Hi all.

I don't see any mention in the speakup git docs of the former
speakup_quiet, or I'd assume speakup.quiet parameter. Is it still
there, or has that been removed? I know you can omit start=1 when
loading in a module, but what if one wants to start quietly with a
built-in synth? Thanks.

Greg

Yep, it's still there. speakup.quiet=1. Very helpful when using a
software synth, and it hasn't been started. Keeps from dragging down the
boot-up.

           HTH.

Hi Greg: You should be able to supply speakup.quiet=1 on the kcl with the synth parameter you are loading. I don't remember if we tested the quiet flag or not however.

Hi Kirk,

I went ahead and compiled my kernel after reading Bill's post on this
thread, and I too can confirm that speakup.quiet is working perfectly
for me on at least 1 machine. Thanks to you, and all who worked on
speakup for the great work you've done.

Greg

Greg,

I use it with my built-in ltlk driver, and it works.
