I suspect they're using a codec you don't yet have on your computer.
Maybe http://www.princessleia.com/MPlayer.php can help in that regard.

I'm probably late on this reply, but there are two things wrong with
this. First, Debian unstable and Ubuntu Hardy use the same win32 codec
package, at least as near as I can tell from apt-cache madison. I have
both repositories in my sources.list. Second, wouldn't FC6 be older than
either and have older codecs?

Where did you find the codecs for the ubuntu hardy system? I am using
this too, and I cannot find the codec package to go with mplayer. I am
using mplayer on ubuntu hardy as well.
Thanks.

Ah. that is your problem. You are trying to play a .pls file in linux are
you sure that will work. I'm unsure about ubuntu I had tried this in
windows. I haven't found the shoutcast server for ubuntu yet, there is still
some investigating I need to do.

Cody, you mensioned a shoutcast server for Ubuntu...However, Shoutcast
servers are distribution independent. Just untar, configure, and run.
Thanks,
Nick

It breaks here too. Only a few seconds of audio then it dies.

Thanks, Michael.
Jim might have found a workaround for that link, but it seems to work
okay on older systems like FC6 for instance, and consistently cuts out
on newer ones.

Same here. Played for about 20-25 seconds each time I tried it
and heard nothing but commercials. (Would have replied earlier but
accidently deleted the message.

My results were the same as yours -- streams for less than 1 minute.

Hi people,
Will someone using mplayer please try accessing the following link and
see if it plays for you? When I access it, it plays for about a minute
and terminates with no error messages, simply saying it reaches the end
of file. The stream is a relatively new radio reading service which
claims nobody else is having any trouble with them, and yet this is the
only link that I am having trouble with. The URL is:
http://151.204.233.83:8000
Many thanks for any info. Very puzzling.
