Seems to run aok, more or less. Problem is, the way linux is protective of hardware access, the dt_driv.exe program never gets to actually probe for the presence of the ISA card... I just moved all of the actual DecTalk PC 4.2C dos files into the DosEmu folder and gave it a try. There has to be some tweaking that would allow the ISA/DMA addresses used specifically by the DecTalk card to be made available to DosEmu, and presto! So far no luck. If I log into DosEmu as root, I get entirely different folders that if I'm regular user, natually. and I haven't been able to get lredir command to let me access a location of the dectalk files to copy into a dosemu folder as root anyways. very nasty business, but what the heck it if worked. ....still plugging away at it. Lets vote on a 2.6xx upgrade to the DecTalkPC ISA support! That way, you'll be able to do whatever you want, all under native dos, on your physical box, not an emulated box. Also, you can run freedos as a livecd, meaning you don't need to install on to your hd in order to use it. Also, the fact that you can't use your dectalk isa card under dosemu isn't because linux is protective of the hardware. It is simply because dosemu as far as I know, never has, doesn't, and probably never will have the support necessary to address isa/pci cards and the like directly. Finally, the fact that you see different files when running dosemu as a normal user and as root is no surprise, since in all likelihood, you're running separate machines as each user. Think of it this way, you have 2 physical computers, pc-a, and pc-b, which both have dos installed. When you're running dosemu as a normal user, you're using pc-a. When you're running it as root, you're using it as pc-b, a separate machine from pc-a. Hth. I have run the DECtalk firmware loader under dosemu as root, and it has worked. Look at the dosemu config files in /etc/dosemu to find out more. Hi all, I did check the help file for this, yet I must be missing something. I have a password protected pdf file to open. I also have the password I should be able to use. There are two password related options in pdftotext, -upw for user password, and -opw for owner password. I suspect it is the latter that I need, but I am getting the same error when I try either. there are several errors actually including that the name token is too long. This leads me to think that the password should be enclose in something so the program does not think it is part of the file name. Still the syntax looks like something that is normally removed.
