Yuck, but if there's no other way, I guess that's better then
nothing. Actually, such an app already exists, and is simply called
maildir2mbox. I have qmail, and most components of the courier server,
except for the smtp component installed on my system, and man
maildir2mbox brings up the maildir2mbox(1) manual page for it. I'm not
sure which piece of software maildir2mbox came with, but I think it's
qmail, though I suppose it could have been in one of the courier
packages as well.
