There was a posting here about use of the USB DEC Express with speakup--a
configuration I thought to be impossible.
I assume that it is done using a USB serial port driver appropriate to the
USB to RS232 interface used on the units, much as we do with USB GPS
devices?
Does anyone care to comment on this?
As a side note: has anyone managed to get the same theory to work for the
Trippletalk USB, or is that a different animal?
Thanks
Luke

To: Speakup is a screen review system for Linux.
The two Axsol hardware synths also have plain old fashioned db9 serial
ports. You would use them with Speakup at this point. The usb ports are
only useful for charging at this time.

Ah, most unfortunate--I need one for a system with no serial ports.

Well, yes. I think a lot of us would like to see this happen. The USB
drivers are, as I understand it, "in development." At least they are in
development from time to proverbial time. I do believe that the
manufacturer does now appreciate the value of supporting Linux, so maybe
there's hope.

How so? Have they finally agreed to release the hardware specs without
requiring a signed NDA? If so, then I'd be curious to know what
finally made them see the light so to speak.
