Someone posted these three statements to plug into your startup files,
which will tame it a bit:
setopt singlelinezle
unsetopt prompt_cr
export PS1='%m%# '
Try those, and then you can use the man pages and configuration files in
/etc/zsh to fine tune the thing.

I created a test user using the ZSH shell and the prompt works better.
However, Speakup repeats the letters I type even though I have echo
turned off. I know there was a fix for this a while ago but I don't
remember it. Do you have this problem?
