Hello,
thanks to those who responded to my alsa questions. I'll probably end up
building a 2.6 kernel but need to do a little reading on how to do this in
the debian enviroment.
Next question is on debian-reference-en. I installed the package but can't
locate the reference guide. In a July post, Chuck Halenback said you could
read the manual in lynx. Where does debian store the manual. I looked in
/usr/share/doc/debian-reference-en but didn't find anything useful.

Hi.
On my system, the command
elinks /usr/share/doc/Debian/reference/index.html
will load the main contents. You don't need elinks, any browser will
do. I just happen to prefer elinks as my default browser.
Hope this helps.

/usr/share/doc is the place for documentation allright. Maybe there's a html
sub-directory under the debian reference directory?

Hi Chris,
When you installed debian-reference-en you got a man page for
debian-reference, and also an executable called debian-reference. As I
recall, the executable assumes you have an environment variable called
"BROWSER" that says what browser you want to use to read the
documentation. So set up your environment variable, then just type
debian-reference and you should have it made in the shade.
