Hi All,
I'm writing with a question about lynx. I can't find a suitable lynx mailing
list (lynx-learners seems to be down?).
Anyways...the question is this:
I'm trying to use lynx for accessing a sympatico webmail account but I have the
problem that when I have prepared a messsage and try to send it by pressing
entre on the "send" link, lynx gives the message "Alert! Unsuported URL
scheme".
Does anyone know how to overcome this?
Thanks so much,
Stephen

Hi.
It sounds to me like your internet service provider's webmail service
is using javascript. You can:
1. Use links the chain, instead of lynx the cat, and see if that
helps.
2. Talk to your ISP, and see if the webmail service can somehow be
used without requiring that your browser has javascript functionality,
or ask them to consider switching to a webmail program which doesn't
require javascript. One such program which I use on my server here is
sqwebmail <http://www.courier-mta.org/sqwebmail/>.
Hth.

[Bearing in mind that you have to get the version that supports javascript...which isn't all versions of the chain]

Or, if you really must use a Webmail service, you can try
http://www.mail2web.com
While I think it's powered by that other excuse for an OS, it does work, and it even works with the cat. I've used it myself, in fact.

I like Squirrelmail better, I've found that sqwebmail, and the courier
software in general has issues with rfc compliance.

Note that if I can get you to "su and say" something just by asking,
you have a very serious security problem on your system and you should
look into it.

Well, what is the URL scheme? You can see it by pressing Shift-E, that's
a Capital E, while your cursor is on that hyperlink.

Yes. Try a browser that can support javascript. Possibly links could
handle this.
