I just looked at the spidermonkey link and am a bit confused. Can somebody
who installed this standalone interpreter tell me: did you install a
package or build and what are the relevant instructions 9or at least
where) that you used if you built. At least one section of the readme says
out-of-date on the readme for the source, and looking at tarballs it
wasn't clear to me what I would need.

Hi. I just installed Debian packages. This is on a box running the
latest unstable. Try
apt-get install spidermonkey-bin
