I noticed that with the latest Dec 11 CVS of Speakup that the
cursoring toggle doesn't seem to work much of the time. Most of the
time, I just here "star" when it is pressed each time. A couple times
I seemed to hear it say "Cursoring off" and "Cursoring on" like it
should but more often than not, it does the former. Just thought I'd
mention it in case anyone else has similar observations.

Hi!
I've just turned the cursor off and on about 15 times, and I'm not hitting this problem that you've mentioned. Are you sure that your numlock is off?

That's strange. I am running this version:
Speakup v-2.00 CVS: Wed Dec 10 11:51:47 EST 2003
synth spkout version 1.1
I recall picking up this version after a mention of fixing the
pronunciation of the cursoring on string and also a fix to the module
unloading issue. But more often than not, it does not toggle
cursoring on and off for me. and yes, the numlock key is off hence I
can use all other num-pad functions for speakup as usual but not the
star key.

Ok, I think I got it figured out. I've been using speakupconf for
some time and the old keymap kept being used. I just deleted keymap
from /etc/speakup and restarted speakup and hey! it works now. Sorry
for the false alarm. Just a possible reminder for folks using ever
changing features of Speakup, checkout the saved configs if you use
that portion. Speakupconf is a great tool and a convenient way to
save speech parameters. I'm thinking of creating subdirs under that
for different synths.

Interesting, I thought maybe I was nuts, but I know this isn't the very
latest Speakup, but I am running a kernel Bill put together for Fedora
and its being loaded as a module.
I was trying to turn the cursoring mode on and all I get is a beep from
the machine. Actually I was sitting in mutt and pressed the star key on
the numpad and mutt said after a beep that this was was not bound. This
indicates to me the key is being passed on directly.
I'm running Speakup v-2.00 CVS: Thu Nov 6 13:56:19 EST 2003
Was this an issue to begin with? The key didnt' change I'm assuming.

I don't remember when they reactivated the key but if you put up a
later version than what you're currently using, just be sure the
keymap isn't saved in an old config like /etc/speakup. Be sure to
delete it and then do a new speakupconf save to save the new copy. If
you don't use the speakupconf script then this is all moot to you:).
