Does anyone know what happened to the review of gnome on mainmenu? I
thought there was at least one segment left but it never seemed to be
aired.

I must say that of all the segments, this was the most disappointing, but I appreciate the honesty of it. The truth is evident from the segment. Mozilla is far from ready for serious use. The Balsa email client looked almost there, but I have never before heard of it. Anybody else know about it? Is it part of Gnome? For now, I'm sticking with Lynx and Pine. I've been using those programs since 1995 in the command-line environment, and it's kind of hard to change. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 12+ messages in thread

Actually, I disagree with you here. If it had been much longer, I would have been convinced that Gnopernicus is yet more vaporware. It's still far from done, but I'd say it has gotten further than any of the other aborted X screen readers. Anybody remember UltraSonix? How about Beam XVI? There web page hasn't changed in several years. This review was enough to convince me that at least Gnopernicus still has a chance of actually being completed. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 12+ messages in thread

I think the shows on gnopernicus could be the best thing to make it usable sooner. When the shows started, few people had it working. Now, more people have at least got it talking as well as the demos on the Main Menu show. True, it doesn't give the access of a current Windows screen reader, but it gives enough for people used to testing and fixing to get started. Ward 2 siblings, 0 replies; 12+ messages in thread From: jacobs @ UTC (permalink / raw) To: speakup Hi Balsa is an email client for gnome. It used to be part of gnome 1.4. It's not a default part of gnome 2, but it uses the gnome 2 libraries which is what makes it work reasonably well with gnopernicus. http://balsa.gnome.org is the site where you can get it. However, to get the full accessibility I suggest grabbing version 2.0.11 from: balsa.gnome.org ----- Original Message ----- From: Adam Myrow <amyrow@midsouth.rr.com> To: <speakup@braille.uwo.ca> Sent: Saturday, June 14, 2003 5:20 PM Subject: Re: mainmenu > It's there now.
