Hello,
I'm looking for suggestions to convert realaudio files to mp3 format.
Someone told me about vsound which could be used to grab the audio output
from trplayer and run it into a mp3 decoder.

Yes, the mentioned trick with vsound is a good one.  In fact, it rips
the sound faster than you can listen to it, which is pretty cool.
