Hi Jeff. How did you find that url? Was it in one of the
radio_load html files? I checked those and I didn't find
it. Or was it part of the return value for
showtype/radioplayer args present in the
www.cnet.com/broadband-xxx page?

I think so, I think it's the second one you visit. Didn't really make a
point of remembering. I guess you could search for ram and find it if
you're keen.

Geoff.

I think w3m will need to be recompiled, but check configure for command
line options before you do since I think it's two of them that enable java
and ssl support if you want them. Also, look on disk 4 and you'll find
both libsafe and the /contrib/java directory. If you have a boxed set of
slackware 8.0.0 from slackware, you have the java stuff on disk. The
libsafe package was a painless install, there's like one environment
variable to be set once installed then a reboot to get the system updated.

No, I'll have to download it as it's not on the main cd. Do I then need
to recompile W3m?

Cheers.

I'm using version 0.2.2, got it around 4 or 5 months ago, from w3m.org

Cheers.

Interesting suggestion, especially as I have it installed.

Unfortunately, it keeps saying "Unable to load javascript (url...), does
anyone know how to set w3m up with external apps, such as trplayer? Does
it just read mime.types and mailcap files?

Cheers.

Hi Geoff. Yes I will have to agree with you on that one. I'm going to now
check those files. I'm just asking bc my knowledge of C has helped me in
decoding the javascript. Oh by the way, since structs aren't used in
javascript, what does the '.' signify in something like
OnClick=Window.open('http://www.cnet.com'); Or something like that. Is the
entire function called window.open? Or is window pointing to open? I've
been reading a lot of C stuff over the past 8 months, and am working on a
module for Unrealircd. Its going to let opers get all the pm's being sent
through the server, and it will be able to show up in various logs. I have
also found that many languages are based off of C, and Javascript seems to
be one example, however there are differences. For example, in C the '.'
operator is used to manipulate the value of a member inside a structure,
which is stored in a variable. I don't know if you know C, but if you're
interested I can provide you with examples, and I can also give you my
lynx_bookmarks.html, which contains all the urls for the C docs. Thx for
the info on the javascript!

come up with some scripting to get a job done.

You're on the right track. In the radio_load_2.html file, you'll see a
function called wihchPath. this determins where to go next, based on the
browser used.  One bit says:

        if (OpSys == "Linux") {
                window.location = buildOldURL();

Good enough for me. so I scroll down to

function buildOldURL() {

and down a little it says:

                if(args.showType == "live") {

return("http://www.cnet.com/radio/rlu/live_2.html");

So that's where we go, kids.

And on the 3rd screen you'll find:

        var livePathRmp = "http://www.cnet.com/radio/playlist/live.ram";

If anyone wants the URLs I have for the javascript tutes and references,
just let me know. A little bit of javascript knowlege helps a lot when
figuring out this stuff.

Geoff.

Hi Geoff.Just out of curiosity, do you know Javascript?
Or do you just tend to figure out the code as it is
similar to C? If you don't mind, can you try to find
the file from which the url for the cnetradio stream was
extracted? Bc I'm still checking various files for the
link to the playlist, and can't seem to find it. I even
tried passing showType and radioplayer to
radio_load_2.html and assigning values to those
variables, and checked the return value to see if that
would return the link. I searched for ram in
radio_load_2.html, and I didn't find any reference to
it, as that file seems to take care of all asspects of
loading the uI components. You can give me the
information off-list if you want, my e-mail address is
igueths@attbi.com. Look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks, this worked quite well, all I have to do now is figure out how I
get some of the other links to work, see below.

Thanks for your efforts here Geoff, unfortunately there are some links on
this same page, the links for the actual games, that don't have a file
extension, for example there is one called ana_live, I couldn't get it to
Work at all.

Hi toby:

The URL you want to put into trplayer is:

http://play.rbn.com/?url=mlbr/mlbr/live/live.rm

If you find other links on the site where the URL is
javascript:void(playMediaMR(' and then a partial URL, get the partial URL
in single quotes and put that bit after http://play.rbn.com?url= and then
you'll be set!

Geoff.

http://anaheim.angels.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/audio/mlb_gameday_audio.jsp

The link I'm trying to hear has the title
"Click here to listen now"

It's under the links to download Real 1 player, on about the 4th page with
l i n k s.

Cheers.

Hi. I wanted to piggyback on this question. I am using lynx (LYNX) to try
and listen to cnetradio on my Linux box. Has anyone figured out a way to
bipass the javascript and know the direct link to the realmedia stream?
I've checked all the load files but so far nothing.

microsoft dialogue
   This company has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
   If the problem persists, delete winblows and install linux
   close button

Hi toby:

What's the page you're looking at? I'd be interested to see the code.

Geoff.

Ok folks, I know this is a long shot, but wondering if anyone can help.
I'm trying to use this browser to listen to some online audio. Well, I've
set up the file assosciations and file extensions (why they can't use
mime.types and mailcap bemuses me) but the problem comes because the link
to the audio is a javascript link. I can only assume it's waiting for a
mouseover event before it'll allow me to follow the link, but attempting
to do so merely results in it sitting there and doing nothing, just as if
I hadn't touched the keyboard. Any suggestions?

Cheers.
