Hi all,
I've typed the command
lspci -v
to list my PCI devices and here is what I found about my modem (a WinModem):
00:0a.0 Communication controller: Lucent Microelectronics 56k WinModem (rev
01)
Subsystem: GVC Corporation LT WinModem 56k Data+Fax+Voice+VoiceView+Dsvd
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 0, IRQ 9
Memory at e4000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=256]
I/O ports at f500 [size=8]
I/O ports at f600 [size=256]
Capabilities: [f8] Power Management version 2
I went to linmodems.org to find a driver for this modem, but I don't know
what to take from there because I haven't seen such a thing.
Are there any other Linux commands that will tell me more about my modem, to
be able to find a driver for it?

There should be a ltmodem package, something ltmodem-6.00b4, or at least, that's the version I've got. If your modem still doesn't work, then you can be fairly certain that it is not supported. You'll want ltmodem-something--safest bet is likely the 6.0 series, latest I've seen is 6.00B14. Lucent modems should work with the proper drivers. I don't know english very well and I assume this is an expression. Does it mean "if I know to untar the files and to install the drivers? If yes, well, I don't know. I've compiled links from its source, but this is my first compilation. If there will be any compilation problems, I won't know how to solve them, but I will ask. I hope I will find a good driver. However, I've ran a Perl script that tested the modem and it told me that this modem has an optical / electrical bla bla (I don't remember the term) and that it is very possible that I won't find any driver for it. Of course, before you can compile, you must download and extract, so there are several steps. Just ask about any one of them that confuse you.
