well, since dectalk has rates rom about 75 to 650,
you'd need to type it a lot!
so make 1-9 on the top row of numbers set the scale, and 0 to set it to 10. that'd work.
and a toggle like - to change 1 to 10, 2 to 20 etc.

75 thru 650??? I wonder how many of those pitches are really valueable.
Before I start diving into these other synths, I will really need the
valid ranges as defined for the /proc/speakup system for each synthesiser.

Actually, he was talking about voice rate. The Dectalk Express pitch range
is 1 through 100.
Not 75 through 650 to the best of my knolege.
