Actually one problem I've been having with samba is windows machines can't
see it in netowrk neighborhood.
Its as if its not announcing itself on the netowrk. Anything I can do
about this one. Even when querried by name it doesn't repond but when hit
with the ip address it works fine.

Tommy

Steve,
Could you please set your e-mail client
to send plain text?
I can't read text/html with mutt.
Thank you.
Greg

Hi. You can read HTML messages in Mutt. Just use
v to view this part. It will load the message into your browser. When
you are finished with the message, quit your browser exit the view
menu and then do what ever you want to the message.

Hope this helps.

          Kenny

Like Scott Howel and I have said times before on this list,
the ultimate way to learn about samba is to read the
"using samba" book published by orielly.
If you can get 5 mb files, let me know, and I'll send it along.
If not, I'll dig up again the ftp sight where you can get it from.
Hth.

Congrats on getting speakup in to the kernel, it is a start.
Would anyone be willing to help me get samba working with rh 7.1?
I'd like to be able to share my other 98 and me machines with the linux machine files and be able to use the printer wich is on the 98 machine.

Thx.
btw: I do have some of the samba.conf filled out such as group name and saddly that is about it. I can start and stop samba with smb restart located in /etc/init.d

I installed swat but when I try to use lynx and go to http://localhost:901 it is not found.
I edited a line in system located in /etc that says
swat 901
I think that was all.
