Hi, is it possible to use a CD image by just downloading it to your
FAT partition?
I think I already know the answer, but I have to ask.
Thanks in advance.

Absolutely. You can install linux this way, and you can certainly burn a
CDR that way.
The install can access an ISO image for its files, but just not on the
partition you intend to install to, of course.

Yes.
First of course mount your fat partition, and switch
to the dir. containing the cd image.
Then do:
"mount -ro loop " cd image name followed by mount point for image.
Remember to unmount the image before unmounting the fat partition.
Hth.
