Hi:
You can indeed use the debian 2.2 stuff to install debian 2.2r2. The only
difference in point release 2 is that some packages have been updated. I
think that there have been some minor changes in the boot-floppies stuff
too, but it's still essentially the same version number so it *should*
work.
There have been some changes to the debian install that allow for the
placing of the correct keymap and stuff like that. You could do this
yourself, but I'd not recommend it as there's really no reason to do this.
Note that you can use either the base floppy images or base22.tgz, you do
not need both. The tgz file is for hard disk based installs.
If you haven't already, I'd suggest reading the debian installation manual
- it's very good.
Geoff.

Hi all.
I've decided to take the plunge and switch to using Debian with
speakup. One question though: can I use the tweaked debian install
files from the speakup archive to install Debian 2.2r2, or just 2.2?
>From my scouting around the archive, the base installation disk images
are the only one's I'm pondering about. I noticed the base I noticed
the base2_2.tgz file was marked with an asterisk. Does this apply also
to the corresponding disk images. If so, what is different about them
that I might be able to manually clean up after installing?
Hope this is making sense.
Thanx in advance,
Ben

I do believe that the latest disks on linux-speakup.org have speakup-0.10
and are built from the rev2 set of bootdisks.

Yes, the latest disks on the speakup site are the ones for 2.2_r2 using speakup-0.10. Still haven't been able to fix the driver images and the udma66 tar ball, but the drivers.tgz file works.
I've atempted to make a set of boot-floppies by including all speakup supported synths, and when I specify speakup_synth=ltlk and speakup_ser=0 on the command line my synth isn't detected so I don't know if its just a problem with the litetalk driver or with some other drivers as well so my all in one cd is going to be put on hold for a little while.
I have made a cd with litetalk support that boots talking andeverything so if people want that they can have it if requested.
I think I'll put it up on an ftp server somewhere so if people want it let me know.
thanks.

Hi Tommy:
I was actually under the impression that multiple synths in the kernel was
only in CVS. Then again, you woulldn't have been able to compile them in
if this were the case. I guess some others will have to download them and
test them to see if they will operate correctly.
Geoff.
