Hi all.
I have the following line in my /etc/fstab:
/dev/sda1 /storage/backup vfat rw,noauto,user 0
0
Before mounting /storage/backup, I can cd into it just fine as a
normal user. However, after /storage/backup is mounted, and I try to
cd into it, I get:
"-bash: cd: /storage/backup: Permission denied"
I've read the fstab(5) man page, and checked everything I could think
of, but still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. The permissions
on /storage/backup are:
drwxrwx--- 2 partimag storage 4096 Dec 6 10:59
/storage/backup/
which is fine. However, after /storage/backup gets mounted, the
permissions get changed to:
drwxr--r-- 2 root root 16384 Dec 31 1969
/storage/backup/
Obviously, the permission change is what is preventing me from
switching into that directory, but I can't figure out why they're
being changed in the first place.
If someone could please enlighten me as to what the problem is, I
would appreciate it.
Greg

You need to change the 2 numbers at the end of the line, can't remember
exactly to what, it might be 1 1 or 1 2, can't remember exactly, the other
option is to look at the umask man page.
