* Installing debian

Hi all,
I'm looking at installing debian for the first time. I was thinking of using GRML and its debootstrap script, but as I understand it, you are left without a speakup modified kernel. I suppose installing GRML directly to the HD would work, but I don't think debian unstable is something I want to be dealing with at this time.
Is there a better way to install debian that has/ensures a speakup modified kernel?
Thanks in advance,

Hi Yall,
I attempted to do a telnet install with Speakup modified fedora last
night. I however could not make it work, every time that I would telnet to
the ip address the the computer that I was attempting the install on would
reboot! I atempteed to use the windows XP client, and teraterm pro. I also
attempted a wife synth install and that failed also.

Hmmm, a wife synth? How much does one of those cost (grin)?
A machine rebooting when you attempt telneting to it is one I've never
heard of before. I assume your wife was looking at the screen at the
time the machine rebooted, if that's so, then it would help to know
what she saw. In fact, it would probably be even more helpful to know
what she saw from the time the machine was started, to the time it
rebooted.

scott,
I had this problem with a computer I got.
The mother board was scrued up, and any time you'd ssh in, it'd just die. or
reboot if I was lucky.
Hope that's not your case, but hth anyway,
Thanks,
Tyler Littlefield.

Greg,
Wife synths are a very costly way to go. Serfisive to say I am still
paying, not to mention they can be really finicky at times. I would not
trader her for the world though.

Well, they have other advantages over a hardware synth but if you're
concerned primarily about cost, forget it. You can't afford one.

Who do you mean by "they"? If you mean humanware, the most likely
answer as of now is no. If you mean Kirk, he might, provided he has a
unit to play with, and the time to play with it of course. If you mean
someone else out there, with the knowledge to do it, and a unit to
play with, then your guess is as good as mine.

Hi,
Please correct me on this, but I heard from a friend with a braillenote
that the braillenote can be used with an apollo driver. If so, you can
use it with speakup's apollo driver.
Take care,
Rynhardt
