buying cds for burning

Has anybody had experience buying cds for burning online? Are there brands or
types I should look for? If I understand correctly there are two kinds:
rewritable ones and non-rewritable ones; is this correct?

Besides the cdrs and cdrws, write only and rewritable blank CDs, you need to
consider whether the CDs are 650mb or 700 capacity.  Another issue is what
speed the CDs are certified as.  I look for a certification of 24x because I
have a 24x writer.

Hi Sheryl,

Yes, that is correct.  check out MEI they have CDR's for $.39 a piece
and they come in lots of 100.  With postage, it works out to $42.00,
and they come with cases.

Both of the writers that I have can burn either 650 or 700 Mb CDs.  I
believe that they all have the built in logic to detect the type of cd you
have loaded.

I just bought a spindle of 100 700mb CDs at Office Max for $37 and am
getting a $30 rebate.  The only catch is that you must mail the rebate in
within 1 week of purchase.

These cds are also certified 24x.  It is a great buy if you can get them.

Hi Cheryl. Yes that is correct, cdr is only recordable. And cdrw is rewritable. I was going to at some point try and erase a cdr by putting it under intense light for a while, then trying to re-record to it and make sure no data is damaged. But pretty much any brand of disk will work. Try to avoid store-brands such as CompUsa. These tend to create skips in audio Cds after many playback sessions. Good luck!

The reason I asked is because I got my writer back when 650 was the only thing arround. So, I'm wondering if it can burn 700 cds now that they are here.
