real player with red hat

[Jason Symes]

I'm fond of Real Network's RealPlayer, and I was happy to find out from a
friend that RealPlayer 8 basic comes in a linux version. When I checked the
RealPlayer site, the only redhat versions available wer:
linux/alpha (redhat 6.2)
and
linux/sparc (redhat 6.2)
I'm downloading the modified rh 7.2 distro as I speak, and I'm wondering
which one of these will work on my gateway pc.

You can get trplayer (which is a command line version of realplayer) along with the realplayer libs from the goodies directory on linux-speakup.org.

Hi, visit the speakup web site and there is an rpm for real player 8 basic
for Linux, and a wonderful commandline tool called trplayer written by Matt
which allows you to use Real Player.

Ok, I've got a slight problem. I looked on the ftp site for these programs,
but I found more then I bargained for. Just for the realplayer 8, I found 3
files, and in the trplayer folder, there was 5. Which file should I
download for these programs?

Just grab the rpm files for Red Hat.
It is something like realplayer-linux-8.i386rpm and trplayer.i386.rpm.


Then, you can install them by typing:

rpm -i filename.i386.rpm
