Will Speakup work under Freebsd? I want to install Freebsd but I am not sure if Speakup will work under it.

It has not been ported to FreeBSD.

Hi.
No.  It only works with the linux kernel.  But if you have a supported
synth you could use yasr.  It's definitely not as good as speakup bc
speakup is part of the kernel and yasr is a user space prog.  You can get
it at yasr.sourceforge.net

Hi, you won't be able to use speakup with FreeBSD, but you can use a
modified boot floppy to install it via hyperterminal, minicom, or another
terminal application via serial port connection.
Once installed you can use FreeBSD remotely over the same serial connection
or setup on a network and access it via ssh.
There is one screen reader, not the best in the world, named yasr which can
be compiled on FreeBSD for native sscreen reader support.
I also heard of someone porting screader to FreeBSD, but don't know much
about that project.

Hi all. I'm trying to mount the kern.flp freebsd install disk so I can 
modify it for installation using serial terminal.
what fs should I mount this as? bc it mounts it as ufs but I cant right 
to it even though it says it's rw.

  this file system as well. Saying Y here will allow you to read from
  these partitions; if you also want to write to them, say Y to the
  experimental "UFS file system write support", below. Please read the

  If you only intend to mount files from some other Unix over the
  network using NFS, you don't need the UFS file system support (but
  you need NFS file system support obviously).

  Note that this option is generally not needed for floppies, since a

  tar" or preferably "info tar").

  When accessing NeXTstep files, you may need to convert them from the
  NeXT character set to the Latin1 character set; use the program

ah...so that's my problem.
I'll have to find a freebsd box to get an account on so I can finish 
these disks.
