I am not sure if this is on topic for this list. On my older Pentium 3
600MHz I installed RedHat 7.3 with a partition for Windows98. This weekend I
moved over to a new computer with Windows XP And want to remove Linux from
the older computer for a family member who wants to only use Windows.
Besides reformating the drive, is their a way to remove Linux?
On this new machine I would like to install Linux. Should I stay with my
RedHat 7.3 ISO files I got from the Speakup FTP site? Or should I download
the RedHat 8.0 ISOs and make some new CDs?

Just kill your linux partition.
Explorer has caused a general protection fault in module kernel32.dll. I'm
sick of Winblows!

It wouldn't hurt to download the RH 8.0 ISO files from ftp.redhat.com
though.

If windows is on the first partition, which I'm guessing it would have to
be in order to work, then you can just delete the linux partition(s) and
thereby extend the winodws one. Windows will happily write all over it.
You'll also want to remove lilo if you've installed it, which I would
suggest doing from Linux first.
Geoff.

Hi, a couple of comments.
You asked should you install 7.3 or go with 8.0. My suggestion is probably
go 8.0, but that is a personal call. It has lots of nice new packages like
festival 1.42 and Gnome 2.0 all in one place and I am rather excited to get
my paws on 8.0 asap.
Second, I have heard others having horrible problems trying to multiboot
between XP and Linux. So be advised that it might not be an easy venture,
but perhaps some others on this list have successfully done such a
multiboot.
It is far from me why I would have Linux suffer the shame of being on the
same drive as XP which is the antithesis of trash. Oh well, I better stop. I
admit I utterally hate XP, and there is no love loss for it. Especially, now
that 60 security holes have been found in the last year alone.
