I got a new kernel panic, the warning was no initial console found and the
panic said try passing init= option to kernel. Any ideas on how to get a
good value for init= and does that properly go on the loadlin command
line?

I'm using slackware 7 out of the zipspeak 0.08 distribution and it appears
unable to find and initialize a console after the partition check is done.
It's possible I have a less than perfect install on my hard drive. Can
reinstall if necessary. I don't know what value to use with init=
statement. The -txmode parameter doesn't seem to help matters either.

Jude, what flavor of Linux are you using and what exactly your problem is? I

Hi Jude
I have never seen this error before. I would suspect however that you
forgot to compile "console on virtual terminal" or "enable virtual
terminals".
Just a shot in the dark. I don't know why you would have this problem
otherwise.

when I got this error, it was a problem with info not being available. when
I had vmlinuz.spk properly downloaded and the right drive pointed to in
linux.bat, the errors went away. I like the fact that zipspeak goes in a
folder called linux. that makes things much easier. is it possible that
something is afoul with the linux.bat file somehow? is it possible that
something is wrong with vmlinuz.spk? it needs to be in the linux folder.
there should be only one. you can leave vmlinuz in there for other purposes
but you must have vmlinuz.spk and the correct one in there and only one.

Is there any way to have speakup stop before it gets to kernel panic so I
can review the screen? I think hdd4 is probably the zip drive, hda is
listed before hdd4 in partition check but there's no number associated
with it that far down.

David,
We're okay on those counts, I suspect though my root statement needs a
little modification. I have some hacking to do and will be back later. I
found out I have a maxstore hard drive on this machine too.
