Can anyone recommend a good PCI Ethernet Card for my desktop computer?
I am looking for one that will work in both Windows mE, and Linux.
The ones I looked at on the dLink site stated nothing about working with
Linux.

With one exception, the cards I have been using are motherboard versions
of the 82557 PRO 100s (E100 in Linux kernel).

I've been using a network card made by Linksys. It's called the Linksys
Everywhere Fast Ethernet adapter. It is a standard 10/100 MBPS NIC. It
comes with a floppy containing both Windows and Linux drivers as well as
those for many other operating systems. However, the kernel Tulip driver
works extremely well with this card, so the disk really isn't necessary.
In fact, it contains older drivers than the kernel. Nevertheless, it has
given me absolutely no trouble. I got it almost a year ago at Wal Mart.

Hi, I like the linksys nic cards. Most of them work well with the ne2pci
module in Linux.

Hello,
There are quite a few that will work just fine with Linux. Matter of fact, I've found that most will. The problem your going to run in to is that the kernel may not refur to the card specifically by name, but rather the chip set it is using. For example, most linksys cards work well under Linux. However, there is not any option to select a Linksys card. Instead, there is a tulip option and that is the one you need because the cards I'm refurring to use the tulip chip.
As far as cards that will definitely work, any of the 3com 3c90x type will work using the 3c59x option. Most Linksys cards will work with the tulip option. I'm not really sure about others.

Well, all 3com cards now aren't released till they work with Linux, so
that's the way to go if you can, though you could always look for sites
that sell older cards and get an rtl8139 or something.

You already got one recommendation, and you'll probably get tons of recommendations before long. Just to add to the mix, I use and like a 3com 3c905c, and a generic card using a Realtech 8139 chip set, accessible via the 8139too.o kernel module.
