Just a friendly reminder that not everyone knows you are using Fedora 
Core so you may want to include that when asking for help <smile>. As 
root run the command:

system-config-network

Follow the prompts for configuring ethernet and you should be up and 
running.

don't take my word on it) /etc/network/interface or something.

Thanks to Raul I found and changed my Ip address.  Now my problem is logging
into my network.  I've created a username on the server and ttried entering
via "net join" but that hasn't helped.
for those who may have missed the earlier postI'm running, Fedora Core 2.
  If we can't look at ourselves, and ask, why?%LINES%then where does the
learning start?

I like to edit the files involved directly:

/etc/hosts
/etc/sysconfig/network
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth?

Then, do a 

service network restart
or perhaps something like:

ifup eth0

Note that you may need to configure params for wireless with iwconfig,
for instance:

iwconfig eth1 essid my_sid
