Hi Dave -
I like a program called "jac" a lot. You can get it at:
http://jac.sourceforge.net
I have used workbone and cdcd, but prefer jac over these. Be sure to get
the FAQ that comes with it.

Hi, cdcd works pretty good. You will need to get the cdcd rpm, and the
libcdaudio rpms.
They are on the Red Hat downloads page.
To tell you how easy cdcd is to use to start playing a cd all you do is
type:
cdcd play
and your cd starts playing.
cdcd stop
stops the cd from playing.
cdcd play 7
would start playing track 7.
Depending on your installation you may have some problems getting it setup.
I know when I did a full install on my 30 GB drive cdcd went in fine.
However on my laptop I did a smaller install, and it gave me dependency
error after error. I'm still trying to figure out what rpm package it is
missing on my laptop.

I would like suggestions from the group regarding audio cd players toat
will run in a Zipspeak installation. A Slackware binary package is
preferred, but I'm willing to try compiling.
I tried compiling one such program, and got a 'compiler received fatal
signal 11'. What is signal 11?
All comments appreciated,
Dave

Hi:
Can't comment on slackware binaries as I don't run it, but I use cdplay
from the cdtool package. The thing I like about cdtool is that it provides
several command-line CD-audio tools, including tools to obtain and store
cddb information.
The cdcd program also comes recommended and has similar features, though
I've not gotten around to playing with it yet.
Geoff.

Hi Dave -
My Slackware distribution contains a binary called "workbone" which does
the job nicely. It is not fancy - will not search the web for lyrics or
"shuffle" selections, but it works. The docs say it needs the numeric
keypad for its commands, but lo and behold the normal qwerty numbers work
just fine. Sorry about the "signal 11" I have no idea.
Regards - Chuck.

thing and to watch someone else doing it wrong, without commenting.

Well you did say all comments. My comment is CD roms for computer s are
tested for 1000 hours of use so my suggestion is buy a portable sony or
some portable CD rom and stick it by your computer. then you can use
your other Cd rom for computer related stuff instead of killing it with
music.
Shrug just a thought.
